Welcome to a very special Winemaker Dinner. This week we are serving dinner at The Brasserie as well as presenting you the opportunity to join us from the comfort of your own home, via Zoom!
Long one of my personal favorite wineries, The Ojai Vineyards founder Adam Tolmach has been producing great wines since the 1980’s. I believe he has been one of the most important explorers, creators and producers of Santa Barbara County wines we have had. He has put the region on the map, and has been and is still making wines that are awesome, age-worthy, and collectable.
Our guest speaker will tell you more about the wines and the story behind this iconic winery, as we graze and sip their great wines matched up to Brasserie food.

Reception
2019 Rosé, Santa Barbara County
In this 2019 bottling our Rosé is comprised of nearly half Syrah, close quarters of Grenache and Carignan, then the same smidge of dry Riesling we’ve incorporated for years (for a little more twang and aromatic drive). Citrusy thrust and terrific fragrance . . . textural roundedness and pink guava flavors. Expect a punchy display of white cherry, tangerine and flowers, with subtle leesiness and tropicality. Just delicious!

2018 Chardonnay, Puerta Del Mar, Santa Barbara County
(91-94 Rating prior vintages) A voluminous feel here: flavors of pear and just ripe apricot come on with a gentle clinging richness, but stay light footed thanks to salty acidity from a background streak of preserved lemon. Aromatically it shows what’s becoming classic Puerta Del Mar chalkiness, laced with lemongrass, fruit blossoms and vanilla that’ll pull your attention into the glass.
Suggested Retail: $28.00 | Dinner & Take-Away: $29.99 | Four Ounce Bottle: $7
Brasserie Bread (Batard) $4.00

2018 Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara County
(90-92 Pts. Prior Vintages) The 2018 Ojai Santa Barbara Pinot Noir opens with beautiful flower aromas, with wafts of spring bulbs and dried roses. Other scents of woody herbs drive the botanical expression further. Fruit is certainly not quiet though; the palate is primed with fresh red berries and sweet cherry, with a sneaky dark mushroom streak that's savory and satisfying.
Suggested Retail: $37.50 | Dinner & Take-Away: $29.99 | Four Ounce Bottle: $8
2016 Pinot Noir, Puerta Del Mar, Santa Barbara County
(94 Points) “The salty, mineral-laced 2016 Pinot Noir Puerta Del Mar offers a distinct Burgundian-style in its forest floor, savory red fruits, moss, river rock, and earth. Fresh and lively on the palate, it stays balanced, layered, and silky, with no hard edges. It’s another singular Pinot Noir from this estate that’s going to benefit from a year or two of bottle age and keep for over a decade.” Jeb Dunnuck
Suggested Retail: $50.00 | Dinner & Take-Away: $44.99 | Four Ounce Bottle: $12
Second Course
Dry Aged New York Steak (GF) $33.00
Baby Carrots, Cipollini Onions, Haricot Vert, Wild Mushrooms, Bordelaise Sauce
2017 Syrah, Santa Barbara County
91 Points:"The 2017 Syrah Santa Barbara has a medium ruby-purple color and is scented of blueberry and boysenberry with black plum, charcuterie, earth, violet and a minerally undercurrent. The palate is medium-bodied and elegantly styled with fresh blue and black fruits, an approachable tannic frame and great freshness, finishing long and layered. A delicate expression that could be a great introduction to Syrah for those who aren't fans of the bigger styles."
Suggested Retail: $32.00 | Dinner & Take-Away: $28.99 | Four Ounce Bottle: $7
2017 Syrah, Roll Ranch Vineyard, Santa Barbara County
Stepping away from the plummy opacity that dominated this wine's youth in years past, there's some transparency in the finer, once slow to show aspects of Roll Ranch. There's more room of the co-fermented Viognier to express itself, melding with the Syrah to express lavender chocolate, just torn Apricot and rich seductive flavors of ripe cherry and muddled raspberry. What is lavis gets balanced by appealing dustiness and the earthy punctuation of dried herbs and nutmeg from the stems. It will continue to evolve along while, but this Roll Ranch Syrah just rocks already. 98% Syrah, 2% Viognier
